To be the premier healthcare center of the underinsured and uninsured to include medical, dental, social, and related services and to become a healthcare provider of choice for general and managed care patients.
Our Short-term Organizational Objective
To consolidate all clinic practices into a new, state of the art facility. We aim to better serve patients by offering organized, easy patient flow while providing more clinical space for practitioners. Beyond meeting current special needs, this new facility will be easily accessible for the majority of Hamilton Health Center’s patients.
Businesses and Residents of the Greater Harrisburg Area
Hamilton Health Center has been providing quality medical, dental and related social services to this area’s low income children and adult population for over 40 years. Over the past three years the demand for our services has escalated beyond our existing capacity, and although we have attempted to respond to this growing need by increasing our hours of operation and increasing our number of sites, (operating in five primary care sites in Harrisburg plus additional sites for administration and social services), this piecemeal approach to space constraints is no longer effective.
In 2008, Hamilton’s Board of Directors began planning to acquire a larger more modern facility. Hamilton initiated this new building project as a result of two primary factors: needs assessments conducted by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, the United Way of the Capital Region and Drexel University identified access to care as a major need for residents of South Central PA and, a feasibility study conducted by Capital Ventures, Inc. on behalf of Hamilton’s Board of Directors in 2007 showed overwhelming local support for Hamilton to expand its services by acquiring a new building and launching a capital campaign. While our community’s economic condition has declined since the feasibility study was conducted, the need for our expansion is greater now than ever since many more residents have lost their health care coverage and have no where else to turn for their medical and dental services.
As shown in this Case for Support, our building project will primarily be funded through grants and loans; however, we also need our community’s financial support for this project to be completed. Whether your interest is in helping to ensure children receive adequate medical and dental care, helping people get the medical care they need to control their diabetes or hypertension, or helping to ensure pregnant women have access to quality prenatal care, Hamilton’s “one-stop medical mall” will provide for culturally sensitive quality health care for all people regardless of their income or health insurance status. Additionally, the “medical mall” will significantly reduce access barriers related to transportation and language.
Our community has reached out and supported other communities in need, won’t you help our Board of Directors and staff continue Hamilton’s 40 year tradition of caring and fulfill our vision for the future?
Thank you for your support,
