Baby Love
Under a contract with the Dauphin County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services, Hamilton has created the “Baby Love” Program, which provides prenatal & medical care, cessation counseling, and social services to pregnant substance abusing women.
Hamilton’s Baby Love program was honored to be recognized as a Dauphin County Safe Kids Coalition’s Outstanding Partner of the Year. Why is this such an honor? Because Safe Kids recognizes the outstanding work that Baby Love is doing to help pregnant women have healthy babies. The program is Directed by Erin Troutman and supported by two case managers, Brandy Wren and Jillian Rutowski. Together they provide intensive case management and support services for pregnant women and women with children two years or younger who have a history or current use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Services provided include:
- Referrals to addiction and tobacco cessation programs
- Housing assistance
- Educational and/or vocational assistance
- Parenting and/or life skills assistance
- Referral to and coordination of prenatal, medical, dental and WIC services
- Referral to and coordination of legal services
Because the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs put both the woman and her unborn child at risk, Baby Love‘s intensive case management services focus on drug and alcohol treatment and support groups but also include child care services, transportation, housing, mental health, and home visitations.
The Baby Love Program’s toll free number is 1-866-530-BABY(2229). The Baby Love Program is funded by Dauphin County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services.
