Baby Love

Harrisburg Baby LoveThe Baby Love Program provides intensive case management for addicted women who are pregnant or have a child less than two years of age to help address the physical, emotional, and social problems intensified by the addiction to alcohol and/or drugs. Greater Harrisburg Healthy Start

Greater Harrisburg Healthy StartProvides links to women’s health services and pediatric care; individualized service plans are developed to assess needs; home visits are conducted by case managers and help with enrollment into eligible insurances, including CHIP and Medicaid, is provided. Additionally, interconceptional care (birth spacing/family planning between pregnancies) education and supportive counseling is provided, as well as, depression screening, parenting support and education. HOPE

HOPEHamilton’s HOPE (HIV Outreach and Patient Empowerment) Program funded by the Ryan White-Part C federal program provides free HIV/AIDS testing, treatment and support service to high risk low income populations. Hamilton has also partnered with Hershey Medical Center and Pinnacle Health System to provide dental services to their HIV patients. Read More… 

Men Matter

Greater Harrisburg Healthy Start, a program of Hamilton Health Center, has a new and exciting initiative just for men! Men Matter seeks to educate, empower and engage fathers and father-figures in Harrisburg and surrounding communities.

MEN MATTER was created as a means by which dads can gain parenting skills, network with other fathers, receive free education on topics specific to men and be connected to community resources.

MEN MATTER consists of three components: Support, Education and Male Involvement. These three components work in conjunction with each other to provide a wealth of knowledge and a platform for father/child interaction. Read More… 

Sister Friend

Hamilton’s Sister, Friend Program is designed specifically to address the risk factors impacting adult women of color. Sister, Friend uses an evidence-based curriculum held in a “House Party” setting creating safe group environment where self-esteem and friendships can develop. The goal of the program is to educate and empower women to make healthier decisions and reduce their risk of HIV infection and substance abuse.

Steelton Highspire Asthma

The Asthma Prevention Program is a three year collaborative project between Hamilton Health Center and Steelton Highspire School District. The National Asthma and Education Prevention Program’s Managing Asthma Guide for Schools and The American Lung Association’s Open Airways for Children are being used as the education programs. The Program Coordinator and the school nurse are working in collaboration to identify, educate, and assist in managing asthma in students ages 8-11. There are also educational opportunities for teachers, staff, and parents. The OAS is the most widely used evidenced school- based asthma program in the country, it teaches children with asthma, self management.

STEPP

Hamilton’s youth program STEPP (Student Education and Prevention Program), focuses on providing HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections, drug and alcohol awareness prevention and internet safety education for Dauphin County community agencies and school districts.

WIC Program (Women, Infants, and Children)

WICWIC is a supplemental nutrition program for low income women, infants, and children. The Program offers nutrition counseling, health education, breastfeeding support and free healthy food supplements to women and children under five years old. In 2010 the program provided an average of $325,757 per month in food vouchers to Dauphin County families. The WIC program at Hamilton has three Harrisburg City locations, one location in Elizabethville, and five other part time locations throughout the Dauphin County area including Steelton, Middletown, and Grantville.
